Acota has been appointed the Authorised Distributor for 3M™ Nextel™ Ceramic Fibres and Textiles, for the UK & North Europe.
There are many benefits of using advanced ceramics in high temperature applications:
Both lightweight and durable, these materials meet demanding thermal, mechanical and electrical performance requirements of many industrial, petrochemical and aerospace applications.
They are frequently used in:
Made of continuous ceramic oxide fibres, Nextel products are available in a variety of forms, including chopped fibres, sewing threads, braided sleevings and woven fabrics.
Key benefits include:
Acota is an Authorised Distributor for 3M™ Nextel™ Ceramic Fibres and Textiles for North Europe.
From rocket boosters and race cars to industrial furnaces and fuel cells, Nextel ceramic fibres and textiles help enable and protect critical equipment in extreme heat environments. Once used to protect NASA Space Shuttles against the heat of re-entry, today Nextel fabrics provide heat, flame and impact shielding for aircraft and spacecraft.
The fibres are coated during manufacture with sizings or finishes to aid textile processing. If required, we offer heat cleaning services to remove sizings and heat-treating services for applications requiring extended exposure to hot, humid environments. If a customer prefers to do this themselves, we can advise on the process.
The unique properties of Nextel can help you improve equipment reliability in some of the most challenging environments.
Nextel ceramic fibres and textiles are increasingly used in the development of continuous fibre reinforced composite materials, including Ceramic Matrix Composites (CMC), Polymer Matrix Composites (PMC) and Metal Matrix Composites (MMC).
